Weds 31st Aug: Still looking for a Site Manager
September 1st, 2011 | Uncategorized | 0 Comments
With so much going on at the moment any thought of days off have had to be shelved, and it was business as usual today although not entirely dog related. We’re all busy on the upcoming Peak to Fong event as the months of planning are coming together into an actual reality, and even though the date is still some way off the preparation has to be in place a long time in advance.
On top of that there is the 2012 Cube Calendar and everything that needs to be done, from the basic re-design to the collating of photos and so on. We will be offering 365 spaces, one for every day of the year, and you can either send a photo of your own HKDR-adopted dog, or sponsor one of the dogs still waiting for homes. The entry form will be up on the website and our HKDR Facebook page any day now so get ready. I think I might be entering Minky and Sparkle this time as my adopted-by-default dogs. Sparkle has now taken to sleeping beside me on my bed, not with my permission, but every morning I find her next to me after she has sneaked up during the night. As much as I hate to admit it, Sparkle has become quite a charming and funny character now that her destruction days seem to be over, and Minky has always been a very sweet dog. They are very close friends and are always together, and it’s just sad that they never found homes as youngsters.
Now that we know we will be staying longer at Tai Po, we’re also looking at the improvements that need to be made there. With Site Manager, Heyli, away in Canada, it’s a tough time for May and Kathy who are left holding the fort, and they could really do with extra volunteers and help. We’re also still looking for a full time replacement for Heyli when she moves to Canada permanently, and ideally it will be someone who is already familiar with HKDR and our Tai Po Centre. It’s a job that requires maturity, initiative, supervisory skills, a knowledge and love of dogs and the outdoors, and hard physical work. If you’re that person please contact me!
