Mon 24th Oct: Last of the Whippety Pups

There was a collection of little dogs that needed to see the vet for various things, so when I arrived at Ap Lei Chau with Strawberry’s two siblings on their way to a foster home (yay!) the back seat of the van was already occupied (along with volunteer Norma). They were all so well behaved and looked so adorable lined up there, that I had to get a photo. Not easy from the front seat when you’re moving, and I was too close to get them all in ……..
Two the of the dogs were new and had come, once again, from one of those well-meaning-but-terrible shelters where they had been kept caged. These dogs always have skin problems to some extent, and many have other more serious (but often preventable) health issues, but what always amazes me is how sweet and loving they usually are. Both Pirate, a peke cross, and Impi, a Yorkie cross, are such friendly little guys, and not in the way shown in this photo of the group waiting to see Dr Tony!
When I arrived at Acorn Vet Hospital, Strawberry’s foster was already there waiting to pick her little charge up after a (thankfully) short stay. Although her toes are still a mess and will almost certainly fall off, Strawberry is such a fighter – not to mention irresistably cute – that I hope this won’t stop her from finding a home. I’m very happy that for now she has a great foster home where I know she will be well taken care of.
Before we’re going to be able to arrange a reunion of the latest litter of Whippety Pups we have one more to find a permanent home for. It’s not Dobby’s fault that he hasn’t been adopted, it was more circumstances that prevented him from coming to Whiskers’n'Paws where he could be seen. I asked for an updated photo so I could post it here and on Facebook, but instead got this lovely video clip of Dobby and his current friends. The Whippeties are all such wonderful dogs, so please consider Dobby if you are looking for an addition to your family. He’s great with everyone as you can see! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADkMgn0jDXA
