Sun 27th Nov: Peak to Fong 2011

What can I say other than wow! What an amazing day, and the weather was absolutely perfect and we all had the best time ever.  There are photos being posted on the HKDR Facebook page as I write, so I will only pick out a few and leave you to browse through the hundreds of great shots to find the ones you like best.  I hope you found the Disney photographers offering framed souvenirs of the day, but if not I’m sure someone too your photo somewhere.

Marcus Wong (from Disney) and myself join Mickey and Pluto in blasting the horns to mark the start of Peak to Fong 2011

Of course you know that Mickey and Pluto joined us at the start of the event at the Peak Green Terrace.  This was the first time that we’d used a private area, and it was just as well we had out own space because it was packed!  And if having the sun come out and two special star guests wasn’t enough, we received the full $100,000 extra donation from Disney thanks to your amazing support and the Facebook and Weibo sharing.

Of course it is always the volunteers who make this event rock, and I have to say a double thanks to those who stayed behind to take care of the two Homing Centres, and Kat Kuok, who was not only at the Peak at the crack of dawn to help organise things up there, but then hurried to Whiskers’n'Paws to be there in my place for the puppy adoption afternoon.  What can I say, other than I hope Kat wins the top raffle prize which is being drawn next Sunday at Whiskers’n'Paws!  You can still buy tickets throughout this week, and they are available on our website online store.

The signage was great (all volunteer work again)

The end of the walk and the start of the Lan Kwai Fong street party (look at the blue sky!)

While we all headed up to the Peak, volunteers were busy at Lan Kwai Fong getting everything ready

Janice was the lucky puppy who found her new home today, and now only pretty Jasmine is left from her litter.  In fact Jasmine was the cutest of them all, but her raggedy ears put potential adopters off I think.  The ears are fine now, just a bit bald, but that’s such a minor thing in the big scheme of life and I have no doubt that Jasmine will be chosen very soon.
