Sat 28th April: Time Out Wine Walk: a huge success

I was so caught up in the post-storms clean-up and demolition/rebuilding of the outside shelters (on Lamma) – again – that by the time I looked at the clock it was too late for me to get washed, dressed and over to Stanley for the Time Out Wine Walk. I’d been looking forward to this event and with the weather miraculously holding out for the afternoon (we have friends in high places), I was kicking myself, especially after I heard how much fun it had been. It was a complete sell-out and you can’t get better than that, so a huge thanks to everyone who bought tickets and to Time Out for nominating HKDR as the sole charity beneficiary this year.
Apart from the human volunteers at Stanley (and another big thank you to everyone who offered to help), and Linda Law as Event Leader, we had another HKDR volunteer off doing her part. I got a request the other day : Time Out is helping to sponsor a charity scavenger hunt called
Dragon Dash: http://www.dragondash.org/ As part of the Dash, myself and a colleague will be standing outside Western Market on Saturday April 28th to hand out clues to participants. As many teams will be wearing fun costumes, we thought it would be a nice idea to find a dog and have him/her wear a dragon costume for a dog and hang out with us while we give out clues”. I had chosen Josie from Ap Lei Chau as the perfect candidate for the job as the ‘dragon’ as she’s a medium sized dog with a calm temperament who wouldn’t at all mind being dressed up in a costume. Photos will be posted on the Dragon Dash website so I’m looking forward to seeing them, and please don’t forget that Josie is still waiting for that home of her dreams.
