Volunteering with your Company, School or Group

If you represent a company, school or group we would love to hear from you about how we can work together. HKDR encourages groups to volunteer at our kennels and we can provide a varied selection of volunteering activities to suit your needs. Everything from walking the dogs to raising funds to feed the dogs and helping with raising awareness about responsible pet ownership - HKDR can meet your needs.

We have a minimum age of 16-years-old for dog-walkers, but we have great opportunities for volunteers as young as 8-years-old to learn about HKDR and what we do to help abandoned dogs and puppies in Hong Kong.

For a group of adults volunteering, a typical agenda would be:

  • Brief introduction to HKDR and our dogs given by our Behaviour & Training Manager;

  • Dog walking - spend quality time "hands-on" with our great dogs;

  • Tour of kennels - the best way to understand the challenges HKDR faces and how your group can help us to continue to contribute to the broader Hong Kong community.

For groups with children under 16-years-old, a typical agenda would be:

  • A short talk about what HKDR does, and why, given by our Behaviour & Training Manager;

  • Tour of kennels - see the dogs up close and learn how they live day-to-day;

  • Supervised training session with one of our great dogs. Each participant has an hands-on opportunity to learn about how to train a dog using positive reinforcement training techniques.

HKDR is happy to customise your visit with us to meet your group's goals, please email Isobel on new.volunteers@hongkongdogrescue.com to discuss further details and availability.

We look forward to hosting your group very soon.
